Run or Dye, the world’s most colourful 5km run is coming to Perth on Saturday 18th July – to the stunning grounds of Scone Palace.

Bringing the explosion of Run or Dye colour to one of Scotland’s most important stately homes for the first time runners can take on the 5K, getting fit and experiencing the vivid colour of Run or Dye a unique and one of a kind day out.

Nearly 200 people have already entered into Perth Run or Dye with participants encouraged to run, jog or walk to the finish line. They will get covered head-to-toe in colour as they go – the Four Dye Zones throughout the route will ensure there’s no getting away from the all-encompassing and full-on brilliance of the event.

Poised above the River Tay in Perthshire, Scone Palace overlooks the Highlands and east through Strathmore to the coast. The Grampian Mountains form a distant backdrop, and across the river stands the city of Perth.

The historic grounds of the Palace are renowned throughout the world, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in both Perth and Scotland. The palace and grounds are owned by the Murray family. The present and 8th Earl of Mansfield, William David Murray, with his wife Pamela, will welcome runners of all ages and abilities, taking part in the most colourful event the Palace has ever seen.

Inspired by the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, also known as the Festival of Colours, Run or Dye gives runners, walkers and all speeds in-between, the opportunity to experience and celebrate in full colour the thrill of the Festival and introduce the idea of ‘living life on purpose’.

Participants can take part dressed in white and run-ready – or in their favourite and most extravagant costumes. As part of registration all participants will receive a goody bag with their white t-shirt, their very own dye packs and plenty more to get geared up for the most blazingly colourful 5km any will have experienced.

After crossing the finish line, runners, and spectators can celebrate in the world famous Dye Festival as the full force of the brilliant colours are blasted all around. The explosion of dye ensures that this really is the most colourful 5km in the world.

Spectators may well wish to turn up in festival dress made of old sheets – although we have  been assured by the organisers that: ‘the dye certainly does come off afterwards and although we don’t recommend wearing your very best clothes there’s no need to completely cover yourself as a spectator’.
